Desert Festival of Rajasthan
Desert Festival is a three-day festival celebrated annually in the months of January-February and is concluded on the full moon day known as purnima. The highlight of this festival is the display of rich and prosperous culture of Rajasthan. Otherwise barren landscape of Jaisalmer springs to life every year during the month of February. The desert festival exudes a delightful spirit of villagers from in and around the Jaisalmer, coming together to rejoice the happening Desert Festival. Desert festival is a special event where Jaisalmer is clustered with hordes of people dressed colorfully. It is looked upon by the local people as well as tourists with great excitement and anticipation.
The annual Desert Festival celebrates the creative crafts and traditional performing arts of Rajasthan. Over all these years, the desert dwellers have woven a fascinating tapestry with threads of rhythm and music in their solitude and this Festival is truly a celebration of their heritage. It is a chance worth lifetime to witness the folk art forms alongside the landscape that has been nurturing them for a number of years.
This 3-day jamboree is a juxtaposition of acrobatics, puppet shows, open-air folk dance performances, stalls highlighted with the dramatic colors of joy and gaiety, snake charmers, the pulsating Fire, Ghoomar dances and Ghair, tie and dye dupattas, colorful swirling skirts with lots of folk music, festooned camels, while desert tents and stalls adds to the dazzling charm of the Desert festival of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Detailed Itinerary :
DAY 01: Arrival in Delhi
As soon as you reach the Indra Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi, you will find our company representative waiting for you. After giving you his introduction, he will safely transfer you to the city hotel. On reaching the hotel, you will be greeted with garlands and sweets at the hotel reception. Relax, have your dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
DAY 02: Sightseeing in Old Delhi
Get up in the morning and have your breakfast. Among so many places that we are going to visit today, we would start with the memorial site of Raj Ghat, where Mahatama Gandhi was cremated. After paying tribute to the great man, we would precede our journey by visiting Red Fort, Jama Masjid and many more popular forts and palaces of Old Delhi. Also enjoy a lovely rickshaw ride in the busy streets of Chandni Chawk.
DAY 03: Sightseeing in New Delhi
After enjoying your breakfast in the morning, proceed for visiting the popular spots of New Delhi. Start by visiting the tallest brick tower of India, which was built in the reign of the Mughals – the Qutub Minar. Enjoy taking some memorable photographs at this historical monument. You will be also driven past the famous India Gate, Indian Parliament and the President’s House. In the evening return back to your hotel and have your dinner.
Overnight will be at Delhi.
DAY 04: Delhi – Agra
After breakfast, you will be taken to one of the most beautiful cities of India i.e. Agra. On reaching Agra, check in your hotel and relax. Soon you will be taken for sightseeing in this wonderful Mughal city which will include visiting the lovely Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Overnight will be at Agra.
DAY 05: Agra – Jaipur
Have your breakfast early in the morning and prepare yourself for your trip to Jaipur. Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan and is known to be the pink city of India. In your journey, spend some time at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri.
On reaching Jaipur, check in your hotel and relax. Overnight will be at Jaipur.
DAY 06: Sightseeing in Jaipur
This day has been fixed for visiting some of the popular tourist’s spots of Jaipur. We would start our day by visiting the massive Amber Fort and then continue the whole day enjoying in visiting Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and City Palace of Jaipur.
Overnight will be at Jaipur.
DAY 07: Jaipur – Ajmer
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the city hotel in Jaipur and then proceed for Ajmer, an important city of Rajasthan. On reaching Ajmer, check in your hotel room and refresh yourself. In the evening pay a visit to the holy Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Overnight will be at Ajmer.
DAY 08: Ajmer – Jodhpur
In the morning, have your breakfast and then proceed towards Jodhpur. On reaching Jodhpur, you will be able to realize the culture and traditions of an ideally Rajasthani city in India. Visit the famous Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, which will help you in gaining some idea upon how the ancient rulers of Marwar lived their life.
Overnight will be at Jodhpur.
DAY 09: Jodhpur – Jaisalmer
Early morning, after breakfast drive to Jaisalmer and on reaching, check in your hotel room. Relax a bit and then proceed for visiting the typical Rajasthani villages in the mid of Sam Sand Dunes. In the night, have your dinner in the ultimate Rajasthani style. Overnight will be at Jaisalmer.
DAY 10: Jaisalmer – Khimsar
In the morning, after breakfast, drive to Khimsar. On reaching Khimsar check in your room at the heritage hotel of the city. Have some rest and then visit the famous Khimsar Fort, which was built in the 18th century.
Overnight will be at Khimsar.
DAY 11: Khimsar – Bikaner
Have your breakfast and then proceed to the beautiful city of Bikaner. On reaching Bikaner, check in your hotel and have your meal. After some time proceed for sightseeing in Bikaner. Visit the Lalgarh Palace and the famous Jain Temples in Bikaner. Overnight will be at Bikaner.
DAY 12: Bikaner – Shekhawati
Have your breakfast and set yourself ready for reaching Shekhawati. Shekhawati is one of those cities in Rajasthan, which is known for its tourist’s attractions. Reach the city and enjoy your time visiting the popular spots. In the night, have your dinner and go to sleep. Overnight will be at Shekhawati.
DAY 13: Shekhawati – Delhi
Today, you will be transferred to Delhi from Shekhawati. On reaching Delhi, enjoy some last minute shopping at the local markets. Have a full day rest at the hotel. Overnight will be at Delhi.
DAY 14: Delhi – Home
This is the last day of your tour. At the correct time, you together with your luggage will be transferred to the airport. Catch your flight with some sweet memories of the tour.
